March - St. Patrick's Day

March – St. Patrick’s Day
Stamp Set(s) Used:  Fun & Fast Notes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink Pad:  Basic Black
Markers:  Stampin’ Write 2009 In-Colors Set
Card Base:  Basic Gray (5 ½ X 8 ½)
Cut pieces:  Sahara Sand 2X2
             Crushed Curry – 2 ¾ X 2 3/4
             Bermuda Bay – 4 ¼ X 3 ¼
Cut ribbon:   Rich Razzelberyy 5 ½”

 

           1.   Stamp the “bird and flower” image from the Fun and Fast Notes Stamp set onto the Sahara Sand cardstock.  Use the In-Color Stampn’ Write Markers to color the image. (I used Bermuda bay for the flower, Mambo Melon for the bird and Crushed Curry for the wing and flower center.)
2.      Adhere ribbon to the left side of the Bermuda Bay cardstock.
3.      Stamp the “happy St. Patrick’s day” stamp form the Teeny Tiny Wishes set to the bottom right corner of the Bermuda Bay piece.
4.      Adhere the Crushed Curry piece to the Bermuda Bay piece, centering it.
5.      Adhere the bird and flower image to the Crushed Curry piece, centering it.
6.      Tear the right side of the Basic Gray cardstock about a ¼ inch from the edge.
7.      Use the flat side of the “brush” end of the Crushed Curry Stampn’ Write Marker to shade the torn edge.
8.      Adhere the Bermuda Bay piece to the Card Base, centering it.

You’re finished!

 

Step it up: 
1. Inking only the flower image of the bird and flower image, randomly stamp aroung the edges of the Card Base.
2.  Follow steps 6 & 7 above.
3.  After step 1 above, slide the flat edge of the Bermuda Bay marker along the OUTSIDE edges of the Sahara Sand piece, creating a “frame” around the piece.  Do this until it is as dark as you like.
4.  Use the 2-way pen and the Dazzeling Diamonds on the flower and the wing and eye of the bird.
5.  Use the Big Shot and the small flower image of the Stampin' Up Backgrounds 1 to texturize the Crushed Curry cardstock.
6.  Follow the rest of the instructions above.

February - Valentine's Day

Stamp Set(s) Used:  Of the Earth, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink Pad:  Basic Black
Markers:  Stampin’ Write 2009 In-Colors Set

Card Base:  Sahara Sand (5 ½ X 8 ½)
Cut pieces:  Whisper White – 3 X 1 & ½ X 3 ½
                   Mambo Melon -  3 ½ X 1 ½ & 1 X 4
Cut ribbon:  Rich Razzelberry - 11” & 4” ( 2 pieces

          1.  Using the side of the Brush end of the Rich Razzleberry Stampn’ Write Marker, color the “flower image.”  Then breath on the image (put it in front of your mouth and take a big breath and exhale big toward the stamp.  It sounds like you’re saying “Ahhh – Ha!) The air moisture  (don’t spit!) will moisten the stamp.  Quickly stamp the image on the 3 X 1 piece of WW cardstock.
2.                  Adhere this to the 3 ½ X 1 piece of Mambo Melon cardstock.
3.      Repeat the stamping process, stamping the image along the ends of the Sahara Sand cardstock, overlapping the bud and the stem.
4.      Use the same process to stamp the saying from the stamp set to the ½ X 3 ½ piece of Whisper White cardstock.
5.      Adhere this to the 1 X 4 piece of Mambo Melon cardstock.
6.      Use the same process to stamp the “Happy Valentine’s Day” to the bottom right corner of the card front.
7.      Wrap the longer piece of ribbon around the bottom of the card front, adhering the ends where the flower image will cover them.
8.      Tie the smaller piece of ribbon around the longer piece, approximately in the center.  (This will create a “tied ribbon” effect, but use less ribbon and the “knot” can be slid along the lower ribbon to get the “look” you want – the first time!)  Cut the ends of this piece at an angle to keep it from raffeling and give your project a more “finished” look.
9.      Adhere the saying to the cardstock, about 1” from the top and to the right.
10.  Adhere the flower image to the left side of the card, overlapping the saying.

You’re finished!
Step it up:  

1.  LEAVE out steps # 3, 7 & 8.  Instead, cut a 5 X 3 ¾ piece of Designer Series Paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade Collection. Follow step #  7 EXCEPT wrap ribbon around this piece (use a 6” piece of ribbon and adhere the ends to the back of the DS piece.)
2. Adhere this to the front of the Card Base, “sandwiching” the ribbon between.
3.  NOW – follow step # 8 above.
4.  Trim all edges of the Mambo Melon about 1/8” off.
5.  Use the 2-way pen and Dazzeling Diamonds to add some sparkle to the flower image.
6.  Adhere to the left of the DS paper.
7.  Adhere the phrase OVERLAPPING the flower.

Instructions for ALL cards      

Card Base will be cut to either 4 ¼ X 11 (score at 5 1/2)                                
                                       OR  5 ½ x 8 ½  (score at 4 ¼)

BEFORE starting card, unless otherwise noted, fold card in half and press the fold as flat as you can.

Stamp Set(s) Used:  Leaf Lines, Teeny Tiny Wishes
            Ink Pad:  Basic Black
            Markers:  Stampin’ Write 2009 In-Colors Set
            Card Base:  Basic Black -  (4 ¼ X 11)
                        Cut pieces:  Whisper White 1 ¾ X 2 ½ & 5 ¼ X 4 (inside)
                                            Crushed Curry 2 X 2 ¾
              Ribbon: 20” White Grosgrain

            1.  Stamp the “fan” leaf image from the Leaf Lines set on the small Whisper White cardstock, slightly to the top and again on the large Whisper White cardstock, to the bottom right corner, stamping off slightly.
            2.  Color the image on the small piece in using the Crushed Curry Stampn’ Write Marker.
            3.  Stamp the Happy New Year from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set under the image above.
            4.  Adhere the Whisper White cardstock to the Crushed Curry cardstock.
            5.  Adhere this piece to the right of the card, centering the top and the bottom and an equal amount on the right side.
            6.  Tie the ribbon to the left of the card front.
            7.  Adhere the large piece or Whisper White to the inside RIGHT of the card base (this gives you a place to write)

You’re finished!

  Step it up a little: 

Step it up:  BEFORE anything else,
            1.  use Whisper White Craft Ink to stamp the “fan” image onto the front of the card stock randomly, being sure to stamp off the edges (wipe off any ink that is on the “stem” of the stamp before stamping).
            2.  Sprinkle White Embossing Powder over the images and tap off excess (re-use the excess by putting it back into the jar).
            3.  Using the Heat Tool, heat the images until they “pop.”
(This is best done in small sections, as the ink will begin to dry and it needs to be wet for the embossing powder to adhere)
            4.  Follow rest of instructions above.

AND.... a picture of the same cards with a little "step it up."  By adding a few other items, such as Dazzling Diamond, Crystal Effects, embossing or Designer Series Paper to your card, you make it sparkle and give it a different "feel" while keeping the same layout and design.  As I give you instructions for these cards, I will make "step it up" suggestions at the bottom of each post.
