Berry Blossoms and Fun Flowers!

This week's Stamping 411 challenge seemed perfect for this set of  paper from the Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper. (*see note below)  This set uses some of Stampin' Up!'s NEW In-colors for 2011-2013.  (Recall that now we have 10 In-Colors, with 5 being good for 2 year periods ie - 2010-2013 and 2011-2013.)  I used the Lucky Limeade card stock for the card base and the Wisteria Wonder for the flower cut with the Fun Flowers Bigs L die for the  Big Shot.  I outlined the edges of the flower pieces with the White Gel Pen and finished it off with a white flower brad.

A ribbon and a saying stamped from the With all my Heart stamp set and punched out with the Oval Scallop Punch make this card ready to send on it's way.  Use the White Gel Pen to write a note inside and one lucky friend will know you care!  She  just won't know how fast and easy it was to make!

Butterfly Cupcake Stand

I saw this pattern a few weeks ago at a Stampin' Up! meeting I went to.  Elizabeth (not sure of last name) shared it with us.  I finally had time to stop long enough to make one to share with you!

I used the Beautiful Wings die for the Big Shot to create the base.  I used the Large Scallop Circle die for the platform and covered it with a circle cut with the Circle Cutter (don't you love it when the obvious name IS the real name?)  A little embossing, a little glitter, and there you have it.  Perfect to hold a cupcake for one!  I didn't have a cupcake, but a friend made me some brownies, so I put some on it for you.

Wouldn't this make a special after school treat display for the little ones in your life?  Or maybe for the big ones!  I hope it makes you smile!

Coffee vs. Sleep

A while back a friend asked for some ideas for teacher's gifts.  While coming up with ideas for her, I made this little card with the Scallop CIrcle # 2  die for the BIg Shot.  I folded a piece of Mambo Melon card stock and placed it slightly inside the larger circle and then cut them out so the fold would not be cut.  The middle scallop circle was cut with the Scallop Punch.  The smaller Melon Mambo scallop was cut from the same Scallop Circle #2 die.  The stamps are from the Morning Cup stamp set from Stampin' Up!'s 2111-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  The butterflies are from the Embossing Sizzlet die. This small card could be a gift enclosure card or you could make a set as a gift.  They are very fast to create.

I borrowed this set because it has a teacup in it.  My granddaugter is having a "teaparty" birthday next month.  After her party, I'll show you what I came up with for that.  Suffice it to say, it's taken up time this week in an already busy week!  Hope your "first week of school" went well.

6 Sided Box

This is a 6 sided "pop up" box made with the Mini Milk Carton die for the Big Shot!  The flower "lid" is cut from the Fun Flowers die. All poducts used are sold by Stampin' Up! Here's a picture from the top side.

This flower just sits of the top of the folded in box and is easily removed to discover the treats inside.  I can see so many different things to do with this flower, I'm sure you'll see it again!

This is really a fast and easy box to make and hold a variety of small things; jewelry and candy come quickest to my mind.  I think it's a perfect size for a teacher gift  - fill it with miniature candies and it would be cute on her desk (something to make her have happy thoughts when the children don't want to learn!).  It's also a perfect little "hello" for a neighbor or friend or secret sister.  I love it when you can think of lots of reasons to create something so simple and cute!

Back to school Sales Tax Holiday

It's AUGUST! 

Summer is almost officially over - at least by the school calendar!  School here starts on the 22nd - just 3 weeks away!  For several years now, The State of Texas has declared a Tax Free Weekend for school supplies.  This applies to the state tax only, local and MTA taxes may be charged. It just so happens that Stampin' Up! sells several items that fall into the "tax free" code!  I received the following information from Stampin' Up! today:

The state of Texas is having a sales tax holiday for school supplies up to $100.00 per item from August 19-21. Because school supply items are included in this sales tax holiday, the below list of items will be state tax free during the holiday period. Please note that you must place your order with Stampin' Up! during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax free. Also, keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday and may not apply to additional city, jurisdiction, or county taxes.
