This is a poster I made for our church's Women's Ministry's upcoming Ice Cream Social. Since I had to make a BUNCH I used the My Digital Studio computer program from Stampin' Up! I love how it has all the elements to create a project that looks 3-D - even the shadows can be added in. You don't realize that you even see shadows on projects you hand-make unless you look very close, but when creating on the flat sheet in the computer, it becomes evident that the "something missing" is often the shadow! Such a little thing to make such a big difference!
On this project, to create the background paper I used one of the background papers that came with the program, then added a color. I then used the same image and lowered it just a little and changed the color, then did that step again. On the finished project, you see the pink and blue I used, and while it's hard to see the yellow, when I took it out, it was definitely missing! I wanted to create the feel of waffle cones. Do you think I got it right?
To use this as a poster, I trimmed the blank edges my computer insists on leaving and attached it to various sping colors of card stock. I added a strip of ice cream objects from the Sunny Fun stamp set in the 2011Mini Summer Catalog, backed by contrasting colors and used Stampin Dimensionals to make them "pop" from the sides. I hope it catches people's attention and we have a good crowd! (I did blank out the hostess's name and address, since that information isn't mine to share on the internet!)
These went up today, then when I got home, one of my friend's said that today is National Ice Cream Day! What a great day to start advertising the Ice Cream Social, don't you think?
I wanted you to see that while the My Digital Studio was created with Scrapbookers in mind, it can certainly be used for so much more! It's a great addition to your computer program library and don't forget that if you purchase it from me, and then sign up for my MDS newsletter, you'll get tips on how to use it and create cool projects! Let me know if I can help.
Happy Stamping!
