My Digital Studio - Birthday cards

 This cute card is straight out of the My Digital Studio computer program.  It's one of the pre-designed cards that comes wth the program.  However, if you have been following this for very long, you have probably guessed that I don't do much with "pre-designed" anything!  So, I changed it up a bit.

 
Now it's more suitable for a young (or young at heart!) male person.  Today is my grandson's 3rd birthday so I thought this was appropriate!  Happy Birthday, B!  I love you very much!

Stamping 411's Challenge

This seems to be one of the easiest challenges I've seen in a long time.  I don't do it often enough, but I really LIKE stamping a phrase or saying onto a punched out shape (although actually, I stamp the words and THEN punch them out.  It's so much easier to punch with the punch upside down, straighten the words exactly where they should appear, and punch!) For this card, I used a set called Little Lambs.  It's a cute little set that I see a Sunday School teacher using to encourage his/her class, but we ALL need a little encouragement now and then, don't we?  I think the images are so cute!

Back to the challenge.  All products are in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog.  For this card, I used most of the instructions for size given (a rarity for me!) The card itself is Peach Parfait, a 2010-2012 In Color for Stampin' Up!  The paper is Concord Crush and Pear Pizazz (bottom end punched with the Scallop Punch) from the 2010-2012 In Color Paper Stack.  The ribbon is the Concord Crush Twill ribbon, but I added a strip of 1/4" Very Vanilla ribbon down the middle for a little of my own "pizazz."  The flower is from the Flower Fest stamp set, stamped with Concord Crush Classic Ink on Pretty in Pink card stock and punched with the 5-petal Flower Punch.  That was it, very fast and easy.  If you want to know how I backed the words, you'll have to leave me a comment and I'll let you know!

This is a card that can be re-produced with these colors or change the colors up, very quickly.  Make a few and send them to your friends when appropriate.  Imagine the receiver's wonder and excitement both at the card and the phrase!

Friends Never Fade

 

This card is VERY similar to the one I posted last Monday.  I needed a quick Thank You card for a man.  The Friends Never Fade stamp set was still on the table, so I thought I'd make it more "masculine."  I changed the colors, the stamp on the background and some of the "add on" elements.  The basic design and techniques are the same. All products are still Stampin' Up!

I just wanted you to see how changing only a few details on a card can change the entire look!  Stamping really does have endless possibilities!  Let me know what you think!

Hello Blossoms

Today's card usual several techniques and elements that I enjoy.  The stamp is one of the single, A la Carte, stamps that Stampin' Up! sells in it's 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  To get this to look like I stamped several colors, I used the Stampin' Write markers and the "Kissing" technique.  If you are unfamiliar with that technique, leave a comment and I'll explain it!  Lots of fun to use!  I then stamped the blossoms in Night of Navy Classic Ink on Daffodil Yellow card stock and punched out the centers with a 1/4" hole punch.  I then cut pieces off of Stampin' Dimensionals and attached them over the letters that stamped the first time.  (I gotta say, 1/4" is VERY small!)  I backed it with a piece of Night of Navy card stock.

The background is Whisper White and Daffodil Yellow card stock run through the Big Shot and the Framed Tulips Textured Embossing Folder.  The embossing process "seals" them together to appear as one piece.

When I got through, I felt like it needed something to add some "pizazz - WOW - factor."  So I added the "left over" pieces from the Blossoms Triple Layer Punch and some butterflies cut out with the Big Shot and Butterfly Wings Sizzlet Embossing Folder.  The danger came in wanting to add too much!  Sometimes, a little is enough, a lot is overkill!  So, I have butterflies for another project!

So Saffron Milk Carton

.....and the opposite sides......

Here's a confession:  I cut this out with the Milk Carton Die for the Big Shot a few months ago.  I see pictures of this and think it's so cute, but I couldn't decide how to decorate it.  I didn't want to just copy someone else (although you are free to copy this one, if you like!) I'd look at various stamp sets and start, but the "right" look just wouldn't come.  Then earlier this week when I cut out all those items with the Blossoms Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, this idea came to me!  I didn't want just flowers, so I used the new Postage Stamp Punch and the matching stamp set Pretty Postage for the remaining sides.  A few decorative brads and Stampin' Dimensionals finished this off very quickly.

This small milk carton will hold a variety of things, from small candies to paper flowers to collecting change (you know, that silver and copper money we use to have lots of, before "debit cards!"), the choice is endless.  It could be a party favor or table decoration or just a nice "here's a special treat" for someone's lunch box.  Now that I've actually decorated this one, I can think of several ways to decorate them.  I'm sure you'll see more in future posts!

Stamping 411's Challenge

Here's my version of this week's Stamping 411's challenge.  I used Rich Razzleberry card stock for the base; Wild Wasabi and the Eyelet Border Punch for the trim on the left side.  I covered the center with Blushing Bride 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon and then tied another piece on to appear to have tied the ribbon!

The Top Note Die is cut from Pretty in Pink cardstock and run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folding.  The Hello Blossoms stamp set is from Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Summer Mini Catalog.  I colored them in with Stampin' Write Markers and the "breathed" on them to make them wet enough to ink up the paper. I used the 1/4" circle punch (now retired, but any office punch will do) to punch out the letters and Stampin' Dimensionals to "pop" them up.  The butterflies are cut from Stampin' Up!'s Beautiful WIngs Embosslit Die.  I've cut several of these in a variety of colors, and then I can just pick what I like as I go!

I used a piece of Pretty in Pink Card Stock and stamped some random flowers on the bottom.  I used the ink pad directly on the card stock to "paint" the edges and add a little color to the writing place.

Bold Blossoms

 

This card uses two of my favorite new items in Stampin' Up!'s 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog, the Bold Blossoms stamp set and the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.  The card is Wild Wasabi, the embossed dots are on Delightful Daffodil.  The ribbon and border piece are Concord Grape.  The flowers are Concord Grape and More Mustard (center), Tempting Turquoise and Pretty in PInk (left) and Bashful Blue and Melon Mambo (right).  The center of the flowers uses one of the Flower Shaped Brads in various colors.  The "grass" is simply a strip that I cut into at various angles and cut some out altogether, to create that grassy look.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals on almost all the layers!  For more detailed instructions, contact me.

Let me tell you a little about the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch.  This is one of two Triple Layer Punches that Stampin' Up! premiered this summer. I have to tell you that I was a little leery, even though I trust the company's judgment, I just wasn't sure about cutting 3 different images from one punch!  I"m SO GLAD I ordered it!  You just flip a little button on the front and you get the three images you see here, the one on top of each flower, and the 2 sizes of the "back" of the flower.  In addition, when you cut the two smaller images, you get an outline of the difference in the top and bottom pieces. 

I'm a visual person and needed to "see" the flowers before I choose colors, so I punched flowers from several colors of card stock scraps to give me colors to choose from.  I'm sure I'll use the "extras" on various projects in the future!  The hardest part of this card was choosing "only 3" flower combinations!

Friends Never Fade

This is a set, Friends Never Fade, that I've owned for awhile now, but just haven't used.  I look at it, like it, but nothing has "popped" to do with it.  Ever have a set like that?  Well, in Stampin' Up!'s new 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog, they included 2 new products that are also in the 2011 Summer Mini Catalog - Melon Mambo embossing powder and Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper.  I've used both of these products on this card.  I now have some other ideas to do with it also, so check back and see what I come up with!

Stampin' Up! has THE best embossing powders of any that I've used.  The colors are true and vibrant.  The saying , "what you see is what you get" holds true where the colors are concerned.  I've bought other embossing powders based on the color I see in the bottle, only to be VERY dissappointed when the final product is not the same color or intensity.  I've never had that problem with Stampin' Up!'s colors, so am very excited to see at leaset some of them return.  I look forward to using them more.......

Here is the inside of the card.

I like adding a stamped image to the area where you write the message.  I hope it makes the reader smile and "feel good" to see that little color.
