Today is President's Day. I wanted to make a red-white-and blue patriotic birthday card but what stamp to use for presidential "authority"??? I decided on this wise old owl (we WANT our president's to be wise, don't we?)
Well, it didn't turn out very "presidential authority," but I do like the card -- and it is red -white-and blue -with a few other colors thrown in!
The owl is stamped with the Punch Bunch stamp set available in this year's Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration catalog (which means you can only get it until March 31st!). It's punched out with the Two-Step Owl large punch (available in this year's Idea Book and Catalog). When this punch came out, I thought it was cute, but a lot of work. It cuts out those big eyes, and other body parts - all in one step. If you just use card stock, that's a lot of extra steps to make him look "real." I thought it was too much for this "lazy stamper." Then this stamp set came out. I loved the fact you could create any color of owl and just punch once if you wanted to, as I did on this card! I think he looks like he wants to give you wisdom. What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know!
The paper and ribbon is also from the Sale-a-Bration catalog - where everything is FREE (with a $50.00 purchase!) Local folks can book a workshop and do some hands-on stamping, but anyone can purchase 24/7 by clicking on the Order Stampin' Up Online link to the left. (I try to make it easy on you!)
Hope you have a great President's Day - even if you have to work! Don't forget to leave a comment and let me know what you think of this owl! Or to get the full instructions.
Happy Stamping!
PS- Happy Birthday to my youngest daughter! Can't believe you're a quarter of a century old! Don't know how you accomplished that since I'm only 29 and holding! Love ya!
