Elegant Lines

This card is one of those I can't decide if I like it or not.  The main reason I created this card was to use the new Elegant Lines embossing folder for the Sizziz Big Shot.  This is an embossing folder that is exclusive to Stampin' Up! - you can't get it anywhere else.  I LOVE this design, it's soft, elegant and whimsical all at once.  Only there's really not room for any thing else!  I added a little ribbon and a phrase from Stampin' Up!'s Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  Most of these are interchangeable in size, so you could change it up.  I used this one because I realized I didn't have any sympathy cards and I like to keep some on hand.  (I've found it's hard to create these when you need them - emotions run too deep- for me at least!  Tear stained cards are not pretty.)

I put this Daffodil Delight card stock on an Old Olive base.  I sponged some Old Olive Classic Ink on the raised parts to highlight them.  Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

Eat MORE Chocolate

 

These are some ideas of things you can do with the Eat Chocolate Stamp set  (available in Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog) and left over card stock.  Throw in a little ribbon and other embellishment items and you have a quick and easy  gift for that someone who needs a "little pick-me-up,"  such as a neighbor or co-worker.  Put one in a packed lunch for your spouse or children to make them smile.  Make a few for party favors for a special dinner or party.  Each time I type another sentence, my brain thinks of something else to do with them, I'm sure yours will also!  I plan on keeping some around to have on hand when I need them!

When I took the GRE (way back in the days!), a teacher gave me a LARGE bar of chocolate - maybe 3 times this big - to eat while I took the long test.  She said it would give me energy and brain power to get through the test.  Must have worked, I got accepted to one of the finest Master's programs in the country.   Silly me got cold feet when they told me I had to take Statistics and decided I would "work in the "real" world" for awhile and THEN get my Master's, but that's another story......

Don't you think someone YOU care about would benefit from the energy and brain power of chocolate?  Wouldn't it make them smile to get it in such a nice wrapper?  Please leave a comment and tell how YOUR going to use these great little gifts.

Build a Blossom

I think the Build a Blossom stamp set and the Blossom Petals Punch may be my favorite set in Stampin' Up!'s 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog -- at least this week!  I created this for a friend's birthday this week.  Don't tell her I only spent about 30 minutes creating it!  It takes me longer than that to drive to the store and back!

The colors here are Pretty in Pink and Concord Grape.  The Designer Seriers Paper is Lap of Luxury.  Doesn't that name just want to make you curl up and peacefully enjoy the colors?  I bought it for a scrapbook, but liked my friend enough to let her have a piece!  Hopefully I can get the scrapbook done this weekend!

On a personal note, I'd like some feedback for you readers.  If you've read this site for long, you may have noticed that lately I've just been giving you the highlights of the projects I've shown.  If you would like detailed instructions on these projects, please let me know.  I'd be glad to create a project sheet for any project you'd like.  Please let me know by commenting or emailing me.

St. Partick's Day

Today I was in a "green" mood, so I created this St. Patrick's Day card.  I used the Heart punch to punch the leaves of the "four-leaf clover."  Then I ran a Stampin' Up! Wheel over them with VersaMark ink and sprinkled with a little glitter embossing powder and heat set them with the Heat Tool.  I added a little "bling" with our Basic Rhinestone Jewels.  These little jewels just peel off the paper they come on and attach to your project.  No need to use any adhesive or glue! They come 3 sizes to one sheet.

The paper is from the Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper Collection.  When you first see this set, you think "CHRISTMAS!"  However, I don't think there's anything particularly "Christmas" about these green polka dots.  What do you think?  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think, or just that you stopped by today!

This stamp set is from the Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration catalog, which means it was FREE!  I like the stamp set, but I'm not sure about the card.  Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

K's Birthday

This is the card I made for my youngest daughter's birthday.  She said she loved it.  I used the Create a Cupcake stamp set and the Build a Cupcake Punch from Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Mini Catalog and the Ice Cream paper and ribbon that you can only get for FREE from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog! 

I also used the Scalloped Edge Punch on the Ice Cream paper on the front and the Whisper White on the inside.  Here's the inside:

I stamped 25 candles for her "quarter of a century" birthday!  Don't know how she's that old, even my mother is only 29 and holding!

President's Day

Today is President's Day.  I wanted to make a red-white-and blue patriotic birthday card but what stamp to use for presidential "authority"???  I decided on this wise old owl (we WANT our president's to be wise, don't we?) 

Well, it didn't turn out very "presidential authority," but I do like the card -- and it is red -white-and blue -with a few other colors thrown in!

The owl is stamped with the Punch Bunch stamp set available in this year's Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration catalog (which means you can only get it until March 31st!).   It's punched out with the Two-Step Owl large punch (available in this year's Idea Book and Catalog).  When this punch came out, I thought it was cute, but a lot of work.  It cuts out those big eyes, and other body parts - all in one step.  If you just use card stock, that's a lot of extra steps to make him look "real."  I thought it was too much for this "lazy stamper."  Then this stamp set came out.  I loved the fact you could create any color of owl  and just punch once if you wanted to, as I did on this card!  I think he looks like he wants to give you wisdom.  What do you think?  Leave a comment and let me know!

Chocolate!

As soon as I saw the stamp set Eat Chocolate in Stampin' Up!'s Mini Occasions Catalog, I knew I had to have it!  So many ideas, so much chocolate, so little time.....!!! 

As I was creating this card this morning, Hannah Montana was on the TV, showing the episode where the brother goes over-board on eating chocolate and other sugary candy.  I ignored it and perserved with making the card!   Seriously, I do think one needs to limit the chocolate and that show portrayed that in a funny way, but one does NOT need to do without forever!  So, expect to see more of this set!

After I finished the card, I realized that it meets Stamping 411's challenge this week!  Love those challenges, and this time it just happened to match!  Love that even more!  If you've never tried one of their challenges, you should.  They keep them clean and simple and fun to play along.

Let's go to the Movies

Last week my granddaughter was sick and spent the day with me.  We watched the movie, Annie!.  EVer since then, I've had this song stuck in my mind.  Then I received my new Build a Cupcake punch and Create a Cupcake stamp set from Stampin' Up!'s current Occasions Mini Catalog and turned it into this card!  Since Stampin' Up! doesn't have a stamp that says this, and I wanted the shadow effect that is difficult to create with "real" stamps, I used the My Digital Studio program to create the words and used colors that match the papers.  I cut them out, and sponged the edges with Daffodil Yellow Classic Ink. My Digital Design Catalog

It's HERE! 

Notice on the right hand column there is a new "button" that says "My Digital Studio Catalog and Artwork."  It's the fifth button in that column.  When you click on it, you'll be taken to a catalog of all the artwork currently available in the My Digital Studio program.  You can print this out (or just the list pages!) and keep it for reference.  Simply check off which art work you own and then you'll know which you want to buy. 

This is a collection of ALL things currently available for the My Digital Studio program.  The plan now is that Stampin' Up! will update this list once a month from now on.  Since all MDS products are downloaded, they can "update" this catalog very fast.

If you don't have this program, or aren't familiar with it, contact me.  It's the best (in my opinion) scrapbooking/card making program currently available for your computer and because the colors "match" our hands on products, can easily be turned into hybrid projects (my favorite!). Two benefits that instantly pop to mind are (1) images can be sized, whereas they can't be with stamps and (2) images are always there, you don't "run out."
